HEAT WAVE

Gaaah, it's so HOT lately! It never got this hot back home! Sure, it was sunny a lot and it got warm in the summer, but it was never so muggy and humid in the mountains. I feel like a used diaper! All I want to do is lie around the bookstore and have something cool to drink... but then I get all stove up from being inside and bleaaaahhh. At least I'm getting a lot of reading done. There are some really strange books in this world. Lots of them have beautiful pictures though, especially the ones that show other places in this world. The Amazon rainforest or the deserts in Egypt... beautiful places! (weird names, though)

I've found something kind of interesting in the kitchen of the apartment I sleep in. There's a big icebox that seems to work on its own without even having any ice in it... and the top part is very cold inside and lets out this lovely cool mist. If anybody's so hot they can't think straight, you should try standing in front of the icebox for a while. Oh! Also, I came up with an idea-- I took some of the juice I got in my rations and poured it into the little trays in the icebox, and it freezes into ice cubes. Still tastes like juice, but it's frozen and good. I might start freezing everything I get soon. Does anybody else have a better idea how to cool off?

Mr. Renji, Miss Minako, I have to thank you again for getting me out of that tree. I'll be sure to have an escort from now on... I really don't want THAT to happen again.

Mr. Wolf, when it cools off, let's have lunch!

Hey Flute, you can always come over and swim at our place if you want! The pool's about ready, and I don't wanna just clean it for nothing!

Frozen juice? Sounds like popsicles. I could really go for some sea salt ice cream right now...

A popsicle? Is that what it's called? Ohhh hahaha, I thought I was onto something!

A pool...?

Yup. I think some of the stores here have some.

Yeah! It was kinda scummy and gross before, but we've been cleaning it out so it can be used again.

Yes, but what is it? Is it like a pond?

Yeah, except it's man-made and they put chemicals in it so that it's safe to swim in.

Oohh, I see. Wow, swimming sounds great! The last time I went swimming was in a shark-infested ocean surrounded by buckets full of chum, so a real refreshing swim sounds wonderful!

...

Wow, that's...pretty dangerous! I guess you beat off the sharks okay, though.

Yep. It was part of my "magical training".

Ha haaa you should have seen the look on that little bitch's face when I popped out of that water alive... hahahahahaaaa....

Woaaaaah. I'm glad Merlin never made me do anything like that...

Was that the name of your teacher? Don't worry, I just had a particularly..... psycho interesting magic teacher.

I guess you could say that, although I think he was more helping us out than being a teacher. He was a little odd, but not that odd.
